Sweet Dreams Banner

I just finished this banner for Brook's *belated* birthday this weekend. I had seen a photo for a wedding where the couple was arranged on a picnic against a shed backdrop with a pastel banner across the background and thought that would be cute for Brook's room. Banners are all the rage and Close To My Heart has these cute chipboard banner pennants in packs of 8, so now to the designing..

Her room is in pastel butterflies in Spring Iris and Sweet Leaf with a little of the old Breeze thrown in. Really cute, but hard to match decor surprisingly!! To get the right colors I used a bunch of scraps from my stash. Some old Breeze cardstock along with B&Ts from Life Delights and Whoops-A-Daisy, all of which are retired. Sorry for all the old stuff, but I bought it when we picked her room colors a few years ago. She has been asking me for decor for her walls, but I wasn't quite sure what to settle on until I saw these banners.

The letters are cut on the Cricut out of Chocolate cardstock and the stamping is in Chocolate, White Daisy and Spring Iris with a pop of Watermelon (retired) on the daisies to match the B&T. We have a glitter and unicorn kinda girl, so Prisma Glitter is used in liberal amounts. Check out each picture in finite detail by clicking on it for a larger image.

Brook loves it and I think it turned out pretty cute, too!

Supplies Used:
My Creations Chipboard Banner (2) *8 pieces are included per package
My Acryix Stamps: Simply Splendid, Treasures, Find Your Style
Retired products: Watermelon ink, Whoops-A-Daisy My Reflections, Life's Delights My Reflections, Daydream My Reflections, Breeze cardstock and Top Coats Rockin'.

True Love - Wings

I've been playing with Wings a little more, doing my Valentine's projects for the upcoming bloghop and I just had to share this layout! I LOVE the way this turned out - so stinkin' cute! I'm not going to have anything to post for the hop because I keep giving them all away early!

My older sister, ShaDell, finally met the man of her dreams a few years ago and married him fast! Lol! They were friends for a long time and lost track of each other. Several winding roads later, their paths intersected again and they knew that spark for what it was and fell headlong into love.

I was so excited to be asked to take their engagement photos and they were such a delight to photograph. Such fresh love just radiates - and still does! When I ran across these photos last night I knew Wings was the ticket for the layout I wanted to try.

I also used the new Bohemian alphabet featured in the January Inspirations brochure, Dimensional Elements Hearts chipboard, new Black Mini-Medley accessory set and My Acrylix Treasures, D1375.

I want to thank Karen Pedersen as she inspired me with her layouts. Check out her blog because she always has such beautiful work! You can find it in the column on the right.

Warm wishes,

Decorative Elements Christmas Ornaments

This is what I do in my spare time when I'm not saving the world at work. Ok it's not so dramatic as all that. I do get to do some downtime activities at my desk when it it's slow, though, so I try to get my crafting in then.

Today in preparation of decorating the tree with the kids, I sponged my DE Ornaments with Cranberry and Sweet Leaf. Starting tonight, we're doing a new holiday thing and the kids are making most of the ornaments for our tree.

This is REALLY TOUGH for mom. In the past, the tree has been my baby. I spent YEARS selecting (not just buying-no nothing as blase' as that) the ornamentation that culminates in the perfect Christmas tree, no, the Ultimate Christmas Tree... But I digress.

We're trying to have fun and create some fun memories for them which we will of course scrapbook, but not break the bank nor moms patience in the meantime.

So here they are. We'll add black and white photos of the kids and some ribbon and glitter tonight when we assemble them. I'll post some pics of our tree when we get them done this weekend. Gotta take some photos and print them out.

Love much!

Trish

Stamp camp artwork

Saturday we had a great Camp! Thanks to all those who made it even with construction!

We made 12 fun projects for only $12 and the ladies got decorated water bottles handmade by my daughter, Brook, and I. Snacks were served and we had a wonderful time!

Raffle tickets were handed out based on how many projects you completed. We held two prize drawings for gifts totalling $40 each! Oh, the competition was fierce, lol!

Yvonne Wickham received the first raffle prize consisting of a D-size stamp set, Connections metal charms, Sassy Strands and Pearl Opaques! Second, Colby Heddlesten received a D-size stamp set, Designer Ribbon Rounds, Metal accessories, Connections metal charms and Sparkles!

It was super awesome and I'm so glad you all were there! I can't wait to do this again next year!

Warmly,

Trisha

Stamp of the Month Artwork

I LOVE THIS SET! I couldn't hardly wait to open it when I received it and spent the evening playing in the craft room! I am so ready for Halloween anyway, but this set is going to be the life of my party! Here is a few cards I put together last night. I'm going to show you my invites and neighbor tags later this month, so keep watching for those as well!

I used You Rock to pair with black cardstock because I was looking for a purple and a nice contrast color (Orange) and Garden Green. It seemed a little off-the-wall at first, but it seemed sent from heaven when I realized this paper pack has all of those! I added Desert Sand to complement this guy's bone structure, lol.

It was a great challenge and turned out well. I can't wait to try the next one!

July Play Dates!

Here is all of the artwork available to complete in class this next week. There are 3 other 2 page layouts pictured as well as an additional 6 cards in the included brochures to make with your remaining supplies! If you would still like a Zippidee Play Date kit, contact me today! For more information on how Play Dates work, please see the sidebar to the right.

For the scrapbook pages, you'll learn to use both sides of your stamps! Whaaat, you say? That's right, for this layout you will stamp the arrow on the reverse side of the stamp to get a slightly larger and solid image. It's awesome! Come to class and see it in action!

For those completing cards, here are all 4. For those at home, your stamped-on pieces are precut. If the image is cut out, you'll need to do so as well as any other stand-alone pieces and bases. Instructions are as follows:

Cut your card bases. To score your cards for the fold, simply place them on your paper trimmer and move the trimmer out of the way. Using your dry embosser, run the stylus along the cutting groove with mild pressure at the appropriate measurement. Super easy and straight lines every time!

The first card, Thanks, designed by Karen Pedersen, is a standard sized card. Assemble your card base by adding the Bamboo diamond B&T to the face (with the the stamped Thank You right side up =), round your corners and sponge with Cocoa ink.
  1. Layer your Indian Corn Blue Cardstock stamped and embossed with Indian Corn Blue dots over the Cocoa CS and adhere to your base above the stamped Thank You.
  2. Using your corner rounder, with the corner guard removed, stamp around the Cocoa Cardstock circle to create a scalloped edge. The picture is shown with a straight strip (from next month's Play Date) but the process is the same.
  3. Layer pieces as shown until you're ready for the chipboard T.
  4. Taking the small colonial white scrap stamped and embossed with Indian Corn Blue dots and lay face down. Place your T over the back of the cardstock (right side down) and trace lightly with pencil. Cut out the T and adhere to your chipboard T. Sand the edges to finish. Adhere to the card over the Tulip stripe B&T circle (from Cherry-O). Voila!

Hit The Spot - 8x3
  1. Colonial White Base. Set aside.
  2. This is a bit tricky to get the brads through only the black face and get your B&Ts lined up. I assemble them on the face (without adhering) and mark the spot for the brads with a light pencil mark. Then cut and tie your ribbon appropriately, but don't adhere. Just place over your pencil mark and then use your pierce tool to make your hole. Add your brads. Now when you assemble your card, your brads won't show when you open the card!
  3. Working with the black embossed face, adhere your B&Ts following the Originals pattern. You can adhere everything now to the face and tack down the knot end of your ribbon.
  4. The stars are cardstock over chipboard. (See above for directions.)
So Happy - 3x3 Originals Side Accent
  1. Indian Corn Blue base.
  2. All pieces are sponged in Desert Sand.
  3. Adhere argyle B&T per directions. The Honey cardstock piece is a 1/2" from the bottom (along the bottom of the pieces listed in the Originals pattern.) Add 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" Colonial White square.
  4. Ink chipboard heart in Cranberry and let dry. You can use your pierce tool on the back of the chipboard to move around the surface of your ink pad.
Missing You - 3x3 Originals Squares Overlay
  1. Colonial White base.
  2. All pieces sponged in Desert Sand.
  3. Add the B&Ts on the left side and then add the Cranberry Cardstock strip right over the seam. Add the Bamboo Sparkle B&T.
  4. Using a pierce tool and some plastic canvas as a guide, pierce holes around the B&T, then adhere the sentiment over the remaining Indian Corn Blue mat and adhere to card.

In Remembrance

*Card finally uploaded!*Today my sister-in-law laid her mother to rest. Fern Wong Carter passed away this week at the age of 51 after a 3 year battle with cancer. It's something we know must come eventually but we hope will be later rather than sooner. No matter when it comes, we are ill-prepared. Liz, know that we love you, Steve and the girls and we hope our love may be of some comfort and that you may draw strength from your Roses.

Your mother was an amazing woman and I see the same strength and courage in you and your girls. She leaves behind an eternal legacy. We will see her again. But not today.

Warmly,

Trish

The card is on a 5x7 Vanilla Cream base and features That's Amore papers, Cocoa and Tulip inks. Grown With Love is the stamp set and then finally, twill ribbon was added.

Muh Boyz Baby Book

I've been working on my son's baby book the past few days and wanted to share a page. Yes, I have more than one slapped together, but not quite finished. I tend to get going along with adding papers and pictures and have to come back to "finish" with the embellishments and journaling. So one down, several to go.. but I'll put them up through the weekend as I finish them, so check back.

I used the 9x9 Simply Snapshots in You Rock colors, Dimensional Elements Stars chipboard inked in Honey and Goldrush and stamped and cut out letters from Rustic Alphabet also inked in Honey and sponged in Goldrush. I haven't worked with the Simply Snapshots before this and am really loving them! They are a level 1 layout with 2-6 designs per package depending on the one you get. So slap some pictures on and call it good! Dress it up with My Stickease, embellishments or stamps and really make them shine! Prefect for baby or specialty books, or if you just like the smaller size.

Don't forget to check out the Jackpot June deal today on my website. For only $60, you can get a goodie box of gifts valued at $120 retail. Simply fabulous!
