Christmas Advent Calendar Workshop
Artwork by Karen Pedersen
You can participate in this workshop in one of three ways:

  1. Come to an in-person class (see dates and times below)
  2. Participate long-distance
  3. Host this workshop in your home with you and at least 5 friends and I'll come to you (in Utah). You, as hostess, will earn at least $40 in hostess rewards and at least one half-off item (and that's only if everyone only purchases the Basic Kit. The more you sell, the more you earn)!
Call or email me to order a kit and sign up in one of those three ways (check the side bar for contact info). Read on for more details...

The finished project is 14" x 14" x 2 3/4" and each daily drawer is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square. It's a darling Christmas decoration and very functional. One of the things I love most about it is that the little drawers are so roomy you can easily fit enough treats in each one for each child or grandchild that will want to pull out the drawer each day in December. (Most advent calendars are only for one treat or prize.)  My friend, Karen, had the great idea of filling each drawer with Hershey's Kisses and a scripture reference.

In person classes at my South Jordan Home (if you want to attend one of these classes, I need to hear from you no later than Monday, November 19):

  • Monday morning, November 26  from 10 am - 1 pm
  • Saturday morning, Novemberer 24 from 10 am - 1 pm
  • Saturday evening, November 24 from 7 pm - 10 pm
To attend the class, all you need to purchase is the Basic Kit.  Anything above and beyond that is up to you. I will be providing the items you see in  the Better and Best Kits for your use at the workshop, but you may want some of those items of your very own. View the kit details here.

Flirty Scrapbook Layouts
This class was designed by Karen Pedersen and these are just the funnest! This trendy, fun paper is such a bright turn for Autumn. The colors emulate the changing leaves and the brightness of the season. You can make these great layouts in my November Play Date Scrappin' Classes. Holiday Tags and Morton Update {Welcome Colt}

As you can see we've been a little busy around here! This past month and a half we celebrated Halloween, welcomed our new little one, counted our blessings and then decked the halls. Phew! Here's a quick recap of our family but first, let me share this great video on how to make your own decorative tags for great gift-giving that makes a splash!

Happy Halloween
We had some pals come trick or treat with us this year. Uncle Drew and Whitney brought Brayden (aka: Thor) over to reign terror over the streets of South Jordan with us. We couldn't believe how much candy the kids collected this time! The dentist is gonna LOVE this bunch!

Snow Monsters
Our first good snow of the season called for suiting up. Brook and Aidan had a great time making tracks all over the backyard and even fit in a few Monste... er, Angels.

A Welcome Addition
Our house welcomed our new little brother into the world in November. Colt Glenn arrived a day early by cesarean and weighed in at 9 lbs and 11 ozs. He had a hard time adjusting at first due to his size and the c-section and spent some time in the nursery with an IV line until his blood sugar stabillized. When he was born he had a little bit of fluid in his lungs and had started to grunt while breathing, indicating labored breathing normally, so as a precaution they kept him on oxygen for a couple of days. Turns out he just likes to grunt like the other kids did. Completely amazed the doctors. We're glad they took the precautions anyway!

Smile, you're on Aidan's Candid Camera, Mom!

Roast Beast
This year we stayed home for Thanksgiving and had the whole Morton family over. It was great having everyone together again and Mom always puts on a good spread!

Canning
This was a new experiment for me this year. I've dabbled a little bit with freezing produce but really have wanted to learn how to do this and to be more self-reliant. We have a great little garden started and I'd love to be able to put some of our harvest up for a later date.

Last week I tried applesauce for the first time. After a few mishaps and some trials and more errors, I finally got something worth giving! The kids passed it off as a keeper and I gotta say, it feels great knowing that my 7 hours, 2 broken nails and bad temper really was worth seeing those jars on the shelf!

Deck the Halls
Wasn't sure about this adventure this year with a new baby and a 2.5yo Turbo-powered kid running around! Turns out the older two were more, eh.. acrobatic than Garrett. They put every ornament I had on the poor tree and half way through we lost the bottom rung of lights. *Sigh* Mom's fancy trees are a thing of the past for some time to come, it seems, but it turned out pretty nice and they had a great time!

It's been great being off work for the past month. I don't want to go back! I can't say it's been a vacation.. cuz it hasn't. But I've loved spending time with each of my children and my husband and the great way we have come together to work at making our home a great environment for our family. I'm really going to miss that as I move back to the hustle and bustle. Hopefully we can keep a little bit of that in our daily lives. But one thing I am looking forward to... going into the gas station again instead of paying at the pump because I have a car full of kids I don't want to get out of their seats!

Warm wishes,

Grateful {Magic Layout}

This is my second post today. Be sure to scroll down to see the fireworks!

I'm finally getting this posted in response to Diana's Challenge today. I started this layout last fall when the Olivia papers came out. I'm embarrassed to say it took me this long to complete it!

I had some specific photos in mind to shoot of my family, initially. After starting this, I never got out to shoot the pictures, then got pregnant and immediately sick, lol! So it's been completed for several months sitting empty and waiting to use. I finally decided I had several random pictures over the past year that highlighted things I was grateful for so I've added them in here. The photo book on the top left layout was for a 5x7, but with some quick mats, my 4x6's worked just fine!

The left layout was originally seen in Key Notes. I completed the right side and added some stamping from Grown With Love. (Again, this was to go along with the family tree theme and the family group photos, but it works just the same, lol! - See, Holly is right and YOU CAN FIX IT!)

Warm wishes,

I am Grateful

Grateful LO page 1 using Olivia papers

for so many things! My God, my family, my freedom! I cant wait to get the pictures on this layout. (Of course with the way I'm going, it will probably be next Thanksgiving before I get them printed....)

Olivia papers combine to make Magic..literally! This pattern is from the new pattern book by Jeanette Lynton and Close To My Heart. It has some great new ideas and innovative ways to make your pages fully interactive! This is just one of many ideas you can find between the covers. You can get it here.

Got an interactive layout? I'd love to see it! Post a comment here before midnight with a link of your art and win a prize!

Best Wishes!
