Tips & Tech Savvy
What kind of glue do I use? Here's a run-down of the adhesives and their best uses.
Tombow Mono Adhesive - the Cadillac of papercrafting and works great for paper on paper. You can also use it to tack ribbon, buttons or embellishments in place and it's mess-free! I use this at all of my classes.
Liquid Glass - This is like hot glue at room temperature. Slow drying but super strong! While it has adhesive properties, it is best used as an accent or for special effects like water or glass crackling. See also Glitter Glue which is glitter in a glue - but NOT an adhesive. It dries clear and allows you to easily add glitter to a page or card for embellishment purposes only.
Glue Dots - These little circles are super strong and are great for heavier items like buttons and chipboard. They come in two sizes for versatility. It doesn't bleed through ribbon and is peel-and-stick easy!
3D Foam Tape - Anything 3D you want to POP! Double-sided, cut to length. Make your accents seem to fly off the page with added dimension.
Dotto Dots - These can be repositioned without damage and removed with gentle rubbing. Great for trying out a layout before committing.
Bonding Memories Glue Pen - Both permanent and temporary. With two tip sizes these work great for detail work and hard to reach areas or wide swaths.
Rub & Remove Eraser - For all your 'fix-its'. Use like an eraser to remove misplaced adhesive or rub-ons.

Hedgehog's Happy Birthday

Today is one of my nieces birthday. I have a few.. ;) I've been wanting to create a great birthday card for this special little girl and the July Stamp of The Month, Happy Forever, came to mind. This is such a cute little set of funky hedgehogs.

I really had fun with the paper layering technique as you can see! Both images are simply stamped multiple times on the different colors of paper and then the pieces cut out and layered on the base image.

This first card is pretty simple and features CTMH's Zippidee Level 2 paper pack. Using chocolate ink, the balloons are stamped on the argyle and cut out as one piece so the pattern remains connected. I stamped the hedgehog's prickles or "mane" on the reverse of the argyle, a nice monochromatic Desert Sand His body is stamped on the front side of the bamboo stars and cut out and layered on top.

The second card (for my other niece) is a little more technical but the same principal. The base image is stamped on the argyle first, then the cardstock and ribbon are applied. Next, the colonial white with the 2nd stamped image is lined up with the first and adhered. Each balloon is cut out from its own cardstock, Cranberry, Dutch Blue and Honey, then adhered with 3D foam tape in place. The hedgehog is colored using a Q-tip and chocolate ink pad. To create shading, just keep adding ink.

Happy birthday girls!!

It's a little early for Halloween...

But as I was perusing ideas for Stamp Camp this September 18th, I felt inspired to use up my old supplies and try on a few patterns! I thought how AMAZINGLY spiderweb-like the colonial white and black pattern from the Silhouette Creative Basics was and wondered why I never thought of this before.

Hmmm... Hence this layout! I haven't got the photos on yet, but I know just what to add! Brook had the cutest Spider costume from Pottery Barn 2 years ago and she was a Spider Princess last year. Too Cute!!

What I liked about this layout pattern, Proof Positive from Cherish, is the flexibility in the Left layout. It is set up to have 6 small 3x3 photos in the white area under the title, but you could easily fit 2 vertical 4x6s or a 5x7. It's a great layout to do ahead of time and make your photo size selection later.
Clearly, it's an oldie but goodie! Happy stamping folks!

Warmly,

Supplies used: Silhouette Creative Basics, Colonial White CS, Embossing Floss - Basic collection, Sweet Leaf Ink, Black Ink, My Acrylix Creepy Cobwebs, 3D Foam Tape, Edge Distresser, Rustic Alpha, Chocolate Large Alpha.
