What Lucky Bunnies

These bunnies are just the cutest and so lucky to be featured as our Stamp of the Month in March. This is a card made for me by my friend, Karen. I was so excited to receive this in the mail! It's funny how we live in such a digital world now-and I totally love all the tech and gadgets! But it was so refreshing to receive a beautiful handmade card in the *snail mail* from someone who cares about me and wanted to let me know in the sweetest way! Thanks, Karen, I love this card! Send someone you love a handmade card today and let them know they crossed your mind!

You can get Sensational Season for FREE with a $100 order anytime through the end of the month or at a significant discount with your qualifying purchase. In addition to that, any $25 order of stamps or more and you can get one of our most popular My Acrylix blocks-either a 3x3" or the 2 1/2 x 6"-for FREE! Karen used our new Pink Buttons Assortment, Neutral Assortment Embroidery Floss, some embossed Sweet Leaf cardstock, blush cardstock, the Colonial White Card & Envelope Value Pack and our fabulous Watercolor pencils.

Happy crafting and have a Sensational Day!

My budding artists

The healthy Fruit Salad
This morning I woke up to a plethora of art. (This Usually happens after 'Mom's Ladies' come over.) The kids enjoy craft night quite a bit and always want to help set up and make new crafts. The 'Ladies' are always very good to humor them!

Brook made me a card with something yummy and 'healthy'. (Because It has both fruit and salad on the cover it's TWICE as good for you!) This girl's gonna be the next Close To My Heart star, I tell ya!

Brook's Card - inside

Aidan's Picasso
Aidan's started as a tracing of the buffalo, Roam, and ended up as a Picasso of my scrapbook work. He says, "I drew the blue and blue, light yellow, pink, dark yellow and pink, dark blue, blue, brown, orange and the grey, grey and the black", when asked to tell about it. "It's your work, Mom." Gotta love my support team!

Last night's card class was a lot of fun and thanks to the Ladies, Ann and Anja, being such good sports. We zipped through the cards last night and ended with some fabulous chocolate doughnuts. Mmmmm!

Saturday Crop

I was invited to Karen's house this weekend for a crop with the girls. Carma came as well and we had so much fun! It was really nice just hanging out with the girls at a place not my own (think cleaning!) We talked girls, shop, basketball and men and enjoyed lovely treats provided by Karen and Carma. I admit I failed there. Epically.

Karen also took us to lunch at my new favorite place, Dear Lizzy. It's a boutique with a cute bistro inside it, located in Highland. FABULOUS!! I was afraid to take pictures of their loot, but you can see a glimpse in these photos of the girls.

Karen and Carma

Carma and I
I was able to get 10, count them TEN, layouts done while there. I had some old club and Stamp Camp layouts that never got photos on them and they seemed to go quite well with the stack of photos sitting in the drawer! Add some journaling and shazam!! Sadly, I don't have many pictures left from my pre-kids years, but what I had I got scrapbooked! I am almost caught up to 2006 now.

Hey, you know, speaking of old paper packs, did you know you can still get them in Studio J, our online studio scrapbooking website? Check it out for free and play around! You can completely build a layout (or 10) without any commitment to purchase or any of your own dardrive storage space. So stop by, check it out and then call me for your membership before you buy to save you 50% on layouts, get free shipping, free sheet protectors and free jpegs - plus as a member, get your tenth layout free during February only.

Zoo layout makeover

I asked for some help yesterday on what to do to help make this layout sing. Thanks much to my facebook friends who offered advice! I changed the scallop to Cocoa CS, which helped a TON. Now my monkey reference to Aidan stands out much more clearly.

Yvonne had some great suggestions for the left side. Everything from ruffled borders to burlap! I didn't have burlap, but she mentioned making it look like a lion's mane, and, well... we got a lion! I free-cut the head for the lion from Honey cardstock, based on the lion in our stamp set, In the Wild (retired) and which I'd already used for the monkey. Then, using the animals and trees B&T half-circle as a pattern, I cut the "mane." For embellishments, I'm not the best in coming up with great uses of ribbon and metals, so I went with stamping and some simple antiqued copper brads.

I had already cut Brook's photo down trying out another idea while trying to get it to fit with the oh-so-cute lion, so I added some more pictures from the trip I had tagged for a couple more layouts and trimmed them to fit, each at 3 1/4 x 3". This really helped as the layout is actually about Brook's kindergarten field trip to the zoo, but Grandpa, Aidan and I got separated from them right off the bat, so I never got a picture of her actually at the zoo! Epic failure.  Now the layout is balanced and about each of them separately and equally (how they like it best.)

Need some help..

I started this layout knowing I wanted to use our My Reflections Expedition paper pack (perfect Zoo papers) and with the vague notion of highlighting the monkeys we saw (Aidan!) I have the monkey stamp from In the Wild tentatively placed over the T in "Fieldtrip" with the arrow connecting my two monkeys. Other than that I'm at a loss.

I think the animal print scallop piece is lost and am thinking about switching that to cardstock. Then there is the matter of embellishments. What, where and how many?

What would you do with this piece to "makeover" and revamp? Leave me a comment below and let me know what you would do with my layout.

I love cell phone photos! They are so easy to work with and perfect for online appilcations. Speaking of online apps - do you like this paper pack? It's retired and no longer available in traditional scrapbooking, but you can still get it in Studio J! Even Close To My Heart's retired papers are available online in Studio J, our online scrapbooking webisite. There's even a few you've never seen before!

Studio J memberships save you 50% off retail, include free shipping, free sheet protectors and free Jpegs. And members can get their tenth 2-page layout free this month! Fabulous! Not a member? No problem! It's easy and very affordable! For only $30 for a 3 month membership (which you may continue if you choose at $10/month) or $99 for a 12 month membership, you can receive all the exclusive benefits and more by going to my website now at http://slvrlinin.myctmh.com/ and clicking on Studio J. Check it out, play around and then call, text or email me to get your membership now!

Don't forget to leave me some indeas below and happy crafting!
